For girls in first and second grade.
This instructional program called the Little Laxers introduces the game of lacrosse to our youngest players in a fun and safe environment. Players will learn how to cradle, catch, throw and do groundball pickups. In a few short weeks, they will learn offensive and defensive positioning, rules of the game and playing as a team. The 1/2s play 8v8 on a small field with shooting nets.
The Season runs from late March to mid May.
PRACTICES: The Little Laxers practice in Carpenter Park one or two nights a week and maybe some Saturdays or Sundays early in the season. Practice nights are scheduled by the coaches and weather permitting.
GAMES: There will be 4 to 5 game days and possibly a playday. Games are usually on a Saturday or Sunday that consist of 3 or 4 - 20 minute games in a round robin format. We play other township clubs and will be traveling locally as well as playing on our home field in Carpenter Park.
Uniform: A Reversible Game Pinnie is included with registration. Please have your player wear black bottoms (shorts, leggings or sweats) on game days.
GEAR: Your player will be required to have a Womens Lacrosse Stick, solid colored mouthguard (no white or clear), ASTM 3077 approved eyewear (goggles) and a water bottle for every practice and game. Cleats are preferred but not required.
Good age to start lacrosse.
We are always looking for volunteer coaches to continue to run the Little Laxer Program.
